Session 21: A Hopeful Dawn

PCs:

Causticas the elf, F2/MU2
Korin Clubfoot, dwarf, F3

SESSION REPORT:
The party continues exploring the armory and eventually meets and fights some members of the guild that orchestrated the raids. After a hard battle they win and they find many of the objects that were stolen during the night. They also took the leader of the thieves guild as a prisoner. On their way to the castle they came upon a group of thieves that were returning to the armory and fought them. The group almost died but one of the sentries managed to bravely push the villains of. They retreated back to their inn and agreed to meet Canon Hazen, the ruler of the city, the next morning.
The group meets Canon Hazen, explains everything that happens and asks for Korin’s level to be restored. Hazen makes a huge discount but still the party couldn’t pay it. They agreed to let him identify the items and come back tomorrow.
The next morning Canon Hazen informs the team about the value and properties of the items. He agrees to keep the clerical scrolls as payment for the restoration. Korin’s level is now restored. After that, Hazen informs the group that he received letters from Safeton that raids have been increased lately and they want groups of adventurers to investigate.
After 7 days of rest, the party awaits for Causticas to train both as a fighter and as a magic user for almost 2 months.

THOUGHTS AFTER THE SESSION:

This was it for the great adventure named A Hopeful Dawn! Props to Gary Lai, the guy wrote it, I hope he is ok and still rolling the dices with his pals! As I said in the previous report it was a great break from the usual adventures of the party and the players enjoyed it greatly. Especially the player that uses Causticas loved it, he liked (and he was right in my opinion) the fact the armory-thieves' hideout was really nice organised, it had very nice traps and very logically and smartly placed.

Also the party showed once more it's resourcefulness, avoiding many dangerous traps through careful play. There was one in specific that had the floor opening up to let anyone in it fall in a small river. However the party saw it coming and took its measures! Good for them!

They came close to a TPK however. The lucky rolls of the sentry saved them, anyone else was unconsious. Truth be told, the enemies were really strong because they were made for 2e were everyone was a little more powered up, or so I am told.

Anyway, the party had the chance to kill the sentries and take an awesome loot once they cleared the armory and they didn't, which was one of the things that Canon Hazen took in mind before helping them. I was considering that I was helpful because I had the villains retreat before the sentry that was standing alone. They were in the middle of the streets and they were fighting fot 4 or 5 rounds so I figures they woulnd't want to send half and hour fighting policemen in the middle of the city!

And if I was afraid that I was kind to the party, especially now that Korin took back his level and Causticas also leveled up, the next session will take all these thoughts away...

Cauldron OSR Eurocon 2024 Day I

Wonderfull news! Me and two players from the OSRIC campaign attended the European OSR convention known as Cauldron in Germany! I will cover on this post how I experienced this truly amazing convention! Bare in mind that some details might have be mistaken because I didn't expect to write a report about it but I am so fired up by the con that I really want to share as much as I can! Also there will be major spoilers for every module I was involved in so be warned that if you want to play them in the future, skip carefully that part! Let's go then! THE TRIP     I began the journey to Germany from Athens where I live. I met Nico, my only compatriot in this adventure, at the airport on Thursday morning, the first day of the convention. I must admit that in the beggining I was a little sceptical about this whole expedition. I didn't know any of the guys involved in person besides Nico, I hadn't been in Germany before so we were really...

Cauldron OSR Eurocon 2024 Day II

After a crazy day of an exhausting trip, a great on-train session provided by Nico and an unbelievable Braunstein game, we took a much needed nap. However it wasn't meant to last for long because at 7:30 we had to be awake to bath, reach the dinner table at 8 and after that enlist ourselves for a game! Let's go! THE BREAKFAST     It's worth mentioning that our food was delicious and it was all created by the volunteers and the families of the Nexus club that hosts the event! They worked endlessly to make sure everything was provided and the result was unbelievable! I wish I could express how grateful me and everyone else is for this effort! A lot of cheese, coffee, sausage and juice found its way to our bellies and we were ready to begin our adventures!!!     Once again be warned that the rest of the report contains spoilers for every module that I took part in, so if you want to avoid them, skip the specific section. Cauldron OSR Eurocon 2024 Days III+IV

The first two days of cauldron had exceeded any expectation that I could possibly have! Every game was great, from the crazy Braunstein game to the deadly tournament module and the slaying of dragons and mad cultists, we were all having a great gaming time! Personally, my only concern was to get down for lunch on time in order to be able to enlist myself for the games I wanted. But that was not the case for the third day of Cauldron.       You see, the previous day we were informed that a great naval wargame would take place and we had already signed ourselves up! Just like the Braunstein game, it would take place on the gaming world of the ADDKON campaign and me, Nico and Mitch were excited to take part in this! So, we woke up, ate our breakfast and got ready to fight! NAVAL WARGAME BATTLE The table is set for battle     DM Ghoul have made the ambitious decision to run a great naval wargame on Saturday with 7 different factions forming up two...
