Session 13: The Most Welcoming Inn

 PCs:

Causticas the elf, F2/MU2

Korin Clubfoot, dwarf, F3

SESSION REPORT:

At the first daylight of Planting 26, the party, not wanting their enemies to regroup, decided to visit again the Inn. Before that however, they visited the hermit, assured that since the clerics are evil he is one of the good guys. He is happy to see that the party is against the cult and the clerics and gives them a healing potion to assist them. This time Korin was actually healed and they headed towards the Golden Grain Inn.

The inn was empty, besides the bodies of dead cultists that they left behind them last night. After they 've searched thoroughly and realised that noone else is there, they descended to the dungeon. There, Korin got bit by a poisonous snake. However one of the elves managed to put out the poison from him before it actually becomes dangerous. They decided to come back and regroup, since Korin couldn't continue.

On Planting 27, they revisited the Golden Grain Inn but they realised it was operational once again. They went directly to the celar where they found one of the clerics of Merikka and several cultists. After a tough battle they managed to beat them and then headed upstairs. In the main hall, they easily overpowered the cultists that were surprised by their assault. Once the inn was cleared, they went to the dungeon.

There, they fought many strong monsters, like a giant snake and some ghouls. After searching around they found a marble statue of a snake that had a human face. They removed its eyes that were made from rubies and its fangs and they retreated back to the mayor's house.

Jack, F1, Readying 28, 576 CY, slain by the evil cleric named Lorath

THOUGHTS AFTER THE SESSION:

At this session, the players realised that since the cult has plenty of expendables, brainwashed cultists, its pointless to just raid the inn over and over again. They found the statue and at first they were afraid that it actually was the snake creature that the prisoner told them about. However, they got what was going on and they started talking about going directly for the heads of the cult! Godspeed!

Also, when Korin got bit by the snake, I decided to have an elf try a wisdom check to cure him. I think I was a little generous here, he should have died instantly since he lost his save, but that's the ruling a made on the spot. I gave them one ability check, if he failed it he died. I wouldn't use it again in the future, that's why you need clerics in the party anyway.

N1 is going really nice, the players are having a blast and the best are yet to come!

Campaign Report: OSR, Quickly (A West Marches Campaign using Whitehack 3e)

WHAT IS THIS?     In my OSRIC campaign we have a small break of two weeks and since I am up to date with the session reports of that campaign, I will say a few things about other games that I participated in. This one in particular is one that I hold dear in my heart because it was my first OSR campaign that I' ve played and the first OSR sessions that I was a part in! I joined this games discord server on 2021 and played in this game for more than a year! So, I will describe what we did and how it went! THE RULESET     As you can see from the title (and the image at the top of the post), we used Whitehack 3e for this campaign. I have already said that my ruleset of choice is OSRIC/ ADnD 1e but I am open to try other games, just like I like playing games other than DnD from time to time. What I want is to have rules that are consistent, help you understand the spirit of the game and provide you a specific goal.     Whitehack does that amazingly well!...

Cauldron OSR Eurocon 2024 Day I

Wonderfull news! Me and two players from the OSRIC campaign attended the European OSR convention known as Cauldron in Germany! I will cover on this post how I experienced this truly amazing convention! Bare in mind that some details might have be mistaken because I didn't expect to write a report about it but I am so fired up by the con that I really want to share as much as I can! Also there will be major spoilers for every module I was involved in so be warned that if you want to play them in the future, skip carefully that part! Let's go then! THE TRIP     I began the journey to Germany from Athens where I live. I met Nico, my only compatriot in this adventure, at the airport on Thursday morning, the first day of the convention. I must admit that in the beggining I was a little sceptical about this whole expedition. I didn't know any of the guys involved in person besides Nico, I hadn't been in Germany before so we were really...

The fact that a powerful magic user was part of the group that they were about to face was very worrisome. So they decide to use Mia's stealthiness as well as a potion of invisibility and a potion of undetectable poison that they had from previous adventures to take him out. The plan is to have an invisible Mia approach them when they prepare the meal of the day and poison the food that is intented for the magic user. Their prisoners informed them for the time that they usually eat and also for the fact that the wizard eats alone at his tower and one of his servants brings him his food.     However, the group knew that some ...
