SESSION RECAP:
The group continues searching the rest of the dungeon. They find a few barrels of wine and some copper coins. They also encounter a group of large spiders that they easily overpower. The party will also find a book of prayers for the elven demigod Ghandolan as well as a few big statues that depict him. As they continue their exploration unfortunately, they meet a group of huge spiders, far bigger than the previous ones, whose poisonous sting kills Norbor and Cleon. The rest of the party manages to force them to retreat.
Having lost two precious comrades, they travel back to Verbobonc as fast as possible. They reach the city without much trouble and there they ask the temple of St. Cuthbert to perform raise dead for their friends. They accept for a big prize. The spell was successful on both occasions and Cleon and Norbor came back to life!
The group then spends about two weeks to have the party rest and everyone is back on their a-game. They realise that they have spent almost every gold coin they had available and they decide to travel back to Humming's End to take some of their hidden stash.
When they reached their village, Norbor had a pleasant surprise. His wife, Sina, was already on Humming's End and was waiting for him to arrive. The party decides to spend about a week there and Norbor starts trying to get Sina pregnant.
Once they were ready, on Growfest 1 they decide to travel back to Verbobonc to continue adventuring, leaving Mukaz running the village. From what they 've heard he did a splendid job on that all this time that the lords were away, fighting dragons and monsters.
During their travel however, one more bad surprise was waiting them. A red dragon appeared a day away from Verbobonc. His fiery breath killed Ausillar and forced many of their comrades to flee. However the more experienced adventurers so that he wasn't so big and stayed in the fight. They spread out so that the dragon wouldn't be able to burn them all and when he came closer to burn as many as possible, Norbor managed to hit him with his spear causing massive damage. Then Korin with a great shot with his bow, ended its life.
After the fight, the group tried to bring back their afraid comrades. They got back most of them, besides Nordik and the new magic-user, who fled away with their horses.
A few days later, the group made its trumphant return to Verbobonc with a slain dragon in its back. The viscount gifted a few rooms of its palace to the party, for the great services they offered the city once more.

THOUGHTS AFTER THE SESSION:
Another one roller coaster session! The session starts, the group already has a new magic sword that they are eager to test, but before they are able to do anything one of their most important members dies! Of course they have enough money to cast raise dead on him, however there is an important detail: Norbor has a constitution of 10. Which means he has 75% of coming back to life. I understand that it sounds too much, but there is 1 in 4 that Norbor, who has reached his 5th level will be lost for ever.
He was lucky that like Korin in the past died by poison. While its a strange way to die, since it doesn't matter how much stronger you are from the creature, a single bite by the spider or the centipede can send you in the after life, it's definately not the worst way to go. And that's because they don't cause to your body that much harm that you can't be raised.
I remember that Norbor's player, who usually is fully of energy, for the twenty minutes of real life that took them to retreat back to Verbobonc and roll the raise dead, didn't say a word! He was anxiously waiting for the critical roll (you see what I did there?)!!! He was lucky enough however, so that's the end of this alarm. It's worth noting that Cleon was also a great addition all this time and they were really happy to see him come back from the dead. He is level 4 now and he is their strongest and most loyal henchman.
But as you saw, this was not the only thing that took place in this session! Sina came back and now (spoiler alert) she is pregnant! In about 7 months of game time, sir Norbor will have descendants! Long may they live!!!
And this was not all the session had to offer! In the last minutes of the game, they had another one of these "unlucky encounters"! Once more they rolled a dragon encounter and this one was a red one! I rolled a 50% percentage to be one of the 4 red dragons that live in the lair nearby but it was not them. Just a young dragon of 3 hp per hd. Of course "just a young dragon" managed to one shot a level 3 ranger and forced the majority of the group to flee. However Norbor was brave enough to charge at him when he came lower to throw fire. I wanted him to be close to the ground level to catch as many as it could with its fire and Norbor risked and scored a crazy hit with its spear. Then a lucky shot of Korin sent the dragon packing! Job well done!
Unfortunately their low lever henchmen has to roll save versus fear and as I already said noone made it and they all fled. Norbor pursued them and stopped almost all of them. He couldn't find the magic user and Nordik. Since this is the second time Nordik leaves, I think I want have him come back. He came back once after he fled the battlefield versus the kobolds and he was punished by Norbor (justily so). Now, his tainted honor won't allow him to come back once again since he knows that everyone thinks of him as a coward. But who knows, perhaps one day he will have his chance to prove them wrong.
Right now however, or main focus is what course of action the group will take. I love that I have stopped asking them before the session where they will go. I have some things ready for nearby areas and in the next session I will see what they will do! Makes me really looking forward to it, plus the random encounters and the crazy potions and items that they find, make the game nuts! Good job Gary! And well done to every contributor to OSRIC, that helped many of us come closer to the ADnD magic! Keep up the good work!!!
Leveled 1-5, yeah a red dragon sounds about right. Old school! Nice write up :)
