SESSION RECAP:

After Norbor came back to life, the party started collecting rumours to find an alternative place to explore because the spiders have been proven very dangerous. They 've learned that there are bandits' attacks coming from the Iron Wood Forest. They recruited some men-at-arms and decided to head there. They also collected the antidotes from the alchemist, so the next time they meet the spiders, they will have a solution at hand.

They travelled to the forest, which was one day away from Verbobonc. Once they entered it however, they met a nightmare, a hellish flying horse that attacked them viciously. It killed one of the hirelings of the party but Norbor using his new magic sword, cut of one of its legs and forced it to retreat.

Exploring more of the forest the next day, they found tracks of a group of humanoids. During the night, Mia saw some creatures that quickly hid behind a tree. He talked to them but received no answer. A few hours later, on Norbor's watch, 3 red dragons were spotted flying fast under the cover of the night towards the south. After that, they decided to head back to Verbobonc to get more rations and continue their search for the bandits.

A few days later, they were back to the Iron Wood Forest following the directions of the tracks that the rangers of the group have found. They met a group of bandits that they ambushed and forced into submission. Their leader revealed that deeper in the forest is an old keep that the band is using at its base and that they are cooperating with a strong wizard. The party continued the interrogation to gather as many intel as they could.

THOUGHTS AFTER THE SESSION:

This session started with a small debate between the players about their destination. Should they head back to the elven lair or find a new adventure? They knew that the lair has a lot of goodies, but also it has a lot of spiders! On the other hand, a small band of thieves could be more easily defeated.

However, the players had an unlucky moment when I rolled the roster of the bandits because they have a magic-user among them! Let's hope they will be able to take him!

Besides that, once more I had to search the book for monsters that came up in the random encounters. I haven't used or faced a nightmare before, it's a promising monster. Also, Norbor was lucky enough to use his keenblade a remove a leg of the creature, making for a great trophy!

Another interesting fact is that red dragons appeared! Such strong and wise creatures don't just roam aimlessly and when they head towards a certain place, they have something in their mind... I have a good idea about their goals, perhaps the players will find it out soon!

From what it looks like, we are back at using Chainmail again! Lovely! Let's see how well they will roll in the 50th session of the campaign, our Golden Anniversasy!!!

Cauldron OSR Eurocon 2024 Day I

Wonderfull news! Me and two players from the OSRIC campaign attended the European OSR convention known as Cauldron in Germany! I will cover on this post how I experienced this truly amazing convention! Bare in mind that some details might have be mistaken because I didn't expect to write a report about it but I am so fired up by the con that I really want to share as much as I can! Also there will be major spoilers for every module I was involved in so be warned that if you want to play them in the future, skip carefully that part! Let's go then! THE TRIP     I began the journey to Germany from Athens where I live. I met Nico, my only compatriot in this adventure, at the airport on Thursday morning, the first day of the convention. I must admit that in the beggining I was a little sceptical about this whole expedition. I didn't know any of the guys involved in person besides Nico, I hadn't been in Germany before so we were really...

Cauldron OSR Eurocon 2024 Day II

After a crazy day of an exhausting trip, a great on-train session provided by Nico and an unbelievable Braunstein game, we took a much needed nap. However it wasn't meant to last for long because at 7:30 we had to be awake to bath, reach the dinner table at 8 and after that enlist ourselves for a game! Let's go! THE BREAKFAST     It's worth mentioning that our food was delicious and it was all created by the volunteers and the families of the Nexus club that hosts the event! They worked endlessly to make sure everything was provided and the result was unbelievable! I wish I could express how grateful me and everyone else is for this effort! A lot of cheese, coffee, sausage and juice found its way to our bellies and we were ready to begin our adventures!!!     Once again be warned that the rest of the report contains spoilers for every module that I took part in, so if you want to avoid them, skip the specific section. Cauldron OSR Eurocon 2024 Days III+IV

The first two days of cauldron had exceeded any expectation that I could possibly have! Every game was great, from the crazy Braunstein game to the deadly tournament module and the slaying of dragons and mad cultists, we were all having a great gaming time! Personally, my only concern was to get down for lunch on time in order to be able to enlist myself for the games I wanted. But that was not the case for the third day of Cauldron.       You see, the previous day we were informed that a great naval wargame would take place and we had already signed ourselves up! Just like the Braunstein game, it would take place on the gaming world of the ADDKON campaign and me, Nico and Mitch were excited to take part in this! So, we woke up, ate our breakfast and got ready to fight! NAVAL WARGAME BATTLE The table is set for battle     DM Ghoul have made the ambitious decision to run a great naval wargame on Saturday with 7 different factions forming up two...
