SESSION RECAP:

The party now has complete control over the lair of the dragons and with the instructions of the architect, they begin to construct the mechanism that will pull up the statue of the dragon. One day later however, the rangers will scout a big group of orcs and kobolds heading their way.

The group needs to decide if they will abandon their current post and retreat back to Humming's End or if they stay to fight. After a brief talk, they decide to fight. They split their forces in two and plan to use their potions of human control to turn the orcs against each other.

Indeed when the orcs arrive, Nolbor and Korin having drunk the potions claim that they are far stronger than their leader and that the orcs should follow them to achieve great victories. Half of the orcs now fight in the side of the party. The henchmen of the party quickly attack the kobolds and force them to retreat while the orcs fight each other. The party members attack the tribe leader and once they force him to submission the remaining orcs surrender.

A few moments later, Nolbor claims that he wants to be the tribe's leader and challenges the orc leader to a fight. He accepts and Nolbor had no problem destroying him. The orcs that survived the fight, about 50 of them accept Nolbor as their new leader. They show him the location of their camp and reveal that their previous leader planned to bring the statue dragon back to life. They have taken the smaller one in their camp and were planning to use it as leverage to keep the old dragon at their service.

The party and its orcs head now to the orc camp. In order to panick the orcs that guard it, they crucified the kobolds they have captured. The guards however don't surrender and fight to defend the camp. The numbers were in the party's side this time and quickly their enemies fled. Now the party controls the camp of the orcs and has in its possesion both of the dragon statues.

THOUGHTS AFTER THE SESSION:

One more session where the party's decisions surprised me. At first, I was afraid that they might be taken over by the orcs. I had to roll a few surprise checks to see if their scouts will notice them soon, if they didn't they wouldn't have time to prepare.

Their decision to use the potions of human control caught me of guard. I didn't even remember they had those, I think they have taken them in the Tomb of the Serpent King while they were in Scant. It was a great way to use them and now Nolbor controls a whole tribe.

It's interesting to see what they do now. I am thinking that if Nolbor stays with the tribe for a while, the whole area will connect with the village and they will be able to patrol it and journey there safely. I can never be sure what they will decide to do however! One way to find out!!!

Cauldron OSR Eurocon 2024 Day I

Wonderfull news! Me and two players from the OSRIC campaign attended the European OSR convention known as Cauldron in Germany! I will cover on this post how I experienced this truly amazing convention! Bare in mind that some details might have be mistaken because I didn't expect to write a report about it but I am so fired up by the con that I really want to share as much as I can! Also there will be major spoilers for every module I was involved in so be warned that if you want to play them in the future, skip carefully that part! Let's go then! THE TRIP     I began the journey to Germany from Athens where I live. I met Nico, my only compatriot in this adventure, at the airport on Thursday morning, the first day of the convention. I must admit that in the beggining I was a little sceptical about this whole expedition. I didn't know any of the guys involved in person besides Nico, I hadn't been in Germany before so we were really...

Cauldron OSR Eurocon 2024 Day II

After a crazy day of an exhausting trip, a great on-train session provided by Nico and an unbelievable Braunstein game, we took a much needed nap. However it wasn't meant to last for long because at 7:30 we had to be awake to bath, reach the dinner table at 8 and after that enlist ourselves for a game! Let's go! THE BREAKFAST     It's worth mentioning that our food was delicious and it was all created by the volunteers and the families of the Nexus club that hosts the event! They worked endlessly to make sure everything was provided and the result was unbelievable! I wish I could express how grateful me and everyone else is for this effort! A lot of cheese, coffee, sausage and juice found its way to our bellies and we were ready to begin our adventures!!!     Once again be warned that the rest of the report contains spoilers for every module that I took part in, so if you want to avoid them, skip the specific section. Cauldron OSR Eurocon 2024 Days III+IV

The first two days of cauldron had exceeded any expectation that I could possibly have! Every game was great, from the crazy Braunstein game to the deadly tournament module and the slaying of dragons and mad cultists, we were all having a great gaming time! Personally, my only concern was to get down for lunch on time in order to be able to enlist myself for the games I wanted. But that was not the case for the third day of Cauldron.       You see, the previous day we were informed that a great naval wargame would take place and we had already signed ourselves up! Just like the Braunstein game, it would take place on the gaming world of the ADDKON campaign and me, Nico and Mitch were excited to take part in this! So, we woke up, ate our breakfast and got ready to fight! NAVAL WARGAME BATTLE The table is set for battle     DM Ghoul have made the ambitious decision to run a great naval wargame on Saturday with 7 different factions forming up two...
