SESSION RECAP:
After Mia and Flan overcame their fear, the party regrouped. They decided to follow Andert's footsteps to see where he went when he fled. Onweald easily picked up his tracks and soon enough they have found him. Unfortunately, he was dead and his body was being devoured by two giant fire beetles. The party surprised and killed the beetles and then put Andert's body to the side, to pick him up when they were done exploring the dungeon and give him a proper funeral. Flan healed up the injured party members and they continued searching the place.
In a room nearby, they found stairs that led down. They decided not to descend yet and continue searching this level of the dungeon. After a few minutes they entered a room where 7 bandits were resting. They overpowered them easily and forced their leader, Bruno to join them. He revealed them that a huge group of orcs was running the second level of this dungeon and they were cooperating with them. He promised to show the party an escape route and they followed him, putting him on a lease. Unfortunately in the next turn he started screaming for help to someone on a corridor and managed to free himself. However, the party managed to get to him and slay Bruno.
The guys that he was asking for help were revealed to be a big group of orcs who assaulted the party. Mia, Norbor and Korin charged ahead and the orge was soon targeted by the monsters' arrows. Norbor and Mia did a lot of damage to the orcs while Korin with his crossbow managed to slay many of them. However, Mia soon fell from the massive damage that she was receiving and Norbor, challenging their opponent's leader, ended up dueling with the leader of the orcish patrol.
His opponent was proven pretty tough and looked like he could overcome sir Norbor, but the half-orc's keenblade cut off the orc's sword hand, making him the winner. The rest of the orcs fled and the party regrouped, while the severely injured orc suffered the insults of Norbor. Having Mia terribly inured and Norbor close to falling unconsious as well, the party decided to leave the dungeon and return home. They picked up Andert's body and whatever loot they managed to find and began their 5 day journey.
The majority of the journey was peaceful and uneventful. A really dark surprise awaited the group just a few hours before they reach their village however! A group of 11 shadows appeared through the woods of Gnarley Forest! Without having many magic weapons to damage these creatures, the party ran for it. The fact that due to Mia's huge body they didn't use horses to travel proved to be critical, since they couldn't outrun the shadows and soon enough almost all of the party members fell, even Mia! The only ones who could make it back to the village were Norbor, Korin, Onweald and Flan who were lucky enough to see that the shadows became satisfied with the victims they gathered already and didn't want to hunt them anymore!
Once they were back to the village, they decided to rest for a day, have Flan heal any injured member of the party and go back to see if they could find the bodies of their friends. Indead, they managed to reach the place of the attack and they were happy to find out that their bodies were still there, although not the loot. They picked them and started getting them back home, back another surprise was about to hit them. 21 large spiders were starting to approach them and the group was forced to abandon the bodies and run back to Humming's End once more!
Defeated and exhausted, they decided to rest and think carefully about their next move!

THOUGHTS AFTER THE SESSION:
This was the last session for this year, since Christmas is here and we won't be able to play much more! What a way to finish the year!!!
First of all, the orcs were proven to be really strong opponents! I had them target the orge, I believe that it made sense since they have faced such opponents in the past and knew how devastating they could be. Mia, despite the fact that she fell, managed to do massive damage and had great moments, like when she decided to pick an orc and throw it to the archers!
Norbor's duel was also epic. He was extremely unlucky, until he eventually managed to score a natural 19 and the keenblade did its dirty work! Everything looked great, but the journey had a dark surprise!
It was a really unlucky encounter. I had announced that this was the last random encounter roll since they were close to their destination! The party cursed me for that! There is a tradition in this group, whenever I announce that this is the last encounter roll before the end of the journey, an encounter occurs! And it was proved true once again!
However, they were close to the village so first I rolled a d20 and with a 5 or less it would be some villagers, probably hunters. Nope. I rolled to see if it's something Gnarley Forest related, according to the World of Greyhawk encounters tables. Nope again. It's OSRIC random tables then. Undead. Shadows.
There were not much that they could do, it was one of the most helpless situations they have ever been in. They couldn't hurt them since besides Norbor and Korin, noone had a magic item. They couldn't outrun them because they were travelling on foot. Mia's body forced them to use a cart for long distance travels but in a forest they couldn't take the cart, so they were just walking the distance.
One by one they fell. When the hunt began, I was rolling a d100 every round, giving the shadows a 40% chance to be satisfied with their pile of victims and stop. They proved to be relentless and almost everyone fell besides the 4 guys that made it back. It was brave to go back and search for the bodies the next day, but they were unlucky enough to have one more random encounter! Large spiders!
Too bad for Mia, she was a character that had a great journey in this campaign! Then again, a new character perhaps will have an even greater one! Or the party could come up with a miracle and bring her back somehow! Who knows!!! We shall find out soon enough!!
Until then, Merry Christmas everybody and have an amazing year of gaming!!
Fight on!!!
